Measuring consent without cheating

A very simple measurement

Measuring consent is not complex. Each acceptance increments one counter, each refusal another.

It is simple math.

An indicator, not a target

The resulting percentage is an indicator. It should not become a target to optimize at all costs.

An unusually high rate may signal questionable practices, as discussed in why all CMPs look the same.

Reconstructing overall figures

With a consent rate, overall volumes can be estimated. For example, 1,000 measured page views with 50% consent suggest roughly 2,000 actual views.

This is more than enough to steer a website without biasing consent.
