StatCounter and GDPR: how to manage consent
StatCounter is an audience measurement or analytics service. Depending on its configuration, its use may involve browser storage, tracking technologies or the transmission of data to a third-party provider.
When the configuration of StatCounter requires consent, the service should only be activated after the visitor has made a choice. tarteaucitron can condition its loading on that decision.
Managing StatCounter with tarteaucitron
When StatCounter is integrated through tarteaucitron, its activation is managed according to the visitor's consent choice. The service can therefore be loaded only when the corresponding permission has been granted and the visitor can later change this choice through the consent interface.

Frequently asked questions about StatCounter
Does StatCounter require consent?
It depends on how StatCounter is configured and which data is processed. Audience measurement tools using non-exempt tracking technologies generally need to be conditioned on the visitor’s consent.
How does tarteaucitron block StatCounter?
tarteaucitron controls the activation of StatCounter according to the consent choice recorded for the visitor. The service code is triggered through tarteaucitron instead of being loaded independently from the consent manager.
