Koban and GDPR: how to manage consent

Koban is an audience measurement or analytics service. Depending on its configuration, its use may involve browser storage, tracking technologies or the transmission of data to a third-party provider.

When the configuration of Koban requires consent, the service should only be activated after the visitor has made a choice. tarteaucitron can condition its loading on that decision.

Managing Koban with tarteaucitron

When Koban is integrated through tarteaucitron, its activation is managed according to the visitor's consent choice. The service can therefore be loaded only when the corresponding permission has been granted and the visitor can later change this choice through the consent interface.

Cookies and storage used by Koban

The current tarteaucitron integration declares 1 cookie associated with Koban:

  • kbntrk

This list corresponds to the cookies currently declared in the tarteaucitron service definition. The service provider may change its technical implementation over time.

Configuring Koban

Add the following code to your website after initializing tarteaucitron. Replace the example values with those provided by Koban.

<script>
tarteaucitron.user.kobanurl = 'KOBAN_URL';
(tarteaucitron.job = tarteaucitron.job || []).push('koban');
</script>

Additional code

The following code can already be present on your website and should be kept where the service is used.

<script>tarteaucitron.user.kobanapi = 'KOBAN_API';</script>

Code to remove

Default HTML code to remove from your website:

<script type="text/javascript"> (function (i, s, o, g, r, a, m) { i['KobanObject'] = r; i[r] = i[r] || function () { (i[r].q = i[r].q || []).push(arguments) }, i[r].l = 1 * new Date(); a = s.createElement(o), m = s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0]; a.async = 1; a.src = g; m.parentNode.insertBefore(a, m) }) (window, document, 'script', 'KOBAN_URL', 'kb'); kb('reg', 'KOBAN_API'); </script>

For a complete guide, read the documentation to install tarteaucitron.js.

Frequently asked questions about Koban

Does Koban require consent?

It depends on how Koban is configured and which data is processed. Audience measurement tools using non-exempt tracking technologies generally need to be conditioned on the visitor’s consent.

How does tarteaucitron block Koban?

tarteaucitron controls the activation of Koban according to the consent choice recorded for the visitor. The service code is triggered through tarteaucitron instead of being loaded independently from the consent manager.
